Kate Middleton v Meghan Markle news: Duchesses royal tours as parents compared

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have both been full-time working members of the Royal Family since they married. After giving birth to Archie Harrison in May this year, Meghan recently returned to work and completed a ten day tour of Africa with Prince Harry, 35. Kate headed on her first royal tour as a mum to New Zealand and Australia nearly a year after Prince George was born. How did their first royal tours as parents compare?

The age of the royal baby

After giving birth to Prince George, Kate waited just one month before returning to work.

However, she waited nearly nine months after Prince George was born before jetting off to New Zealand and Australia in April 2014.

Meghan headed overseas much more quickly and her recent Africa tour came just four months after Archie Harrison was born.

The length of the tour

For her first working trip as a mum, the Duchess of Cambridge went away for a mammoth tour lasting 19 days.

Meghan opted for a much shorter trip, and the Africa tour lasted ten days.

Time with their children

During the tour, Kate made sure to spend as much time as possible with George and her and William spent just two nights apart from their son.

However, it is believed Meghan did not leave Archie at all during the tour and Prince Harry even travelled to some engagement alone so the Duchess could stay with their son.

The appearance of the royal baby

Although both royal mum’s try to keep the lives of their children private, both made an appearance during the trips.

Prince George stole the show as he was spotted many times during the royal trip, including a playdate in New Zealand and day out at Sydney Zoo.
