Argos unveiled their 2019 Christmas advert – entitled Book of Dreams – at the start of the month and have now released pictures of their popular catalogues going right back to the 1970s to accompany it.
The retailer, which was established in 1972, was the first British brand to release their ad this year.
It was shown on TV on Friday November 1, during ITV’s Coronation Street and Channel 4’s Gogglebox.
The stylish advert, which was created by The&Partnership London, begins with a father looking at a catalogue for Christmas inspiration for his family and sees a drum kit circled by his daughter.
The instrument magically appears in his kitchen and the man begins to play the drums to Simply Minds’ classic 1980s track, Don’t You Forget About Me.
A youngster then appears in her pyjamas, as does a second drum kit for her to play.
The father and daughter duo then perform a gig, complete with dramatic stage lighting and smoke machines, in front of hundreds of adoring fans.
Alongside the advert, Argos have shared cover images of their catalogues throughout the decades.
Look through the collection to see catalogues from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s – see if you can find the catalogue of your childhood.
The complete archive also shows images from the turn of the century – from 2000 right up to today, so you may see gifts your children may have received and loved.
The front covers also give an insight into what products were the most popular in each particular year.
